Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a round 20cm (base measurement) fluted tart tin, with removable base, with pastry.

  2. Combine syrup, sugar, spread, egg and vanilla essence in a bowl. Stir in pecans. Pour mixture into pastry crust.

  3. Bake in oven for 18-20 minutes or until just set. Remove from oven and set aside for 3-4 minutes to cool slightly.

  4. Serve caramel pecan pie with whipped cream, if desired.
